“Crossfit is designed to be done by all regardless of age, demographics, physical abilities. You’ll surprise yourself with all that you can accomplish, and you’ll meet an awesome community.”
1. How long have you been a member at CFM?
– It all started when I took a leap of faith and attended CFM’s 101 course in February 2013.

2. Why did you join?
– After retirement, I started to think about myself and my health: contrary to popular belief, just because I was in the military didn’t mean that I was fit, and I have always struggled to achieve a healthy weight. I had been exposed to Crossfit in the early ’90s for a very short time, so I was somewhat aware of what it was about. I drove by Morgantown Crossfit every day and decided to stop in and check it out – it was time to make a change.

3. What do you love most about CFM? / What keeps you coming back each month?
– Hands down, the community!! Oddly enough the thing that I miss most from the military in the community, sense of belonging, and being associated with like-minded individuals. CFM filled this spot for me and continues to provide a place to better myself – physically, mentally, and spiritually.

5. Who inspires you?
– This is a tough one – I try to take inspiration from all those I associate with. So much of my life and where I have been a result of learning from others.

6. How has improved fitness impacted your life? Please provide an example of a result outside of the gym.
– I feel that we live in a society that is plagued by obesity and where overprescribed medication takes the place of healthy living. I feel that in my age group, I am better off than most and am pleased that my physicals and lab work reflect that. My overall wellbeing is impacted by my fitness from sleeping well to boosting my confidence. And definitely, my mood is impacted – just ask my family how cranky I get when I miss my workouts; Crossfit is a stress reliever for me.

7. What’s one thing – either fitness-related or not – you learned in the last month?
– The last month has been a trying time for me and I have learned that gratitude is good for my soul and is something that I need to work more on within my life.

8. What would you say to someone you love to encourage them to try out CFM?
