“If you want to workout in an environment where you can be yourself, be celebrated for your accomplishments (which might be as simple as getting out of bed and showing up for class), where you are not judged by your size, shape, or how much weight you can or can’t lift, where people truly miss you when they haven’t seen you in class for awhile, and sincerely care about you, then CFM is worth trying.”
How long have you been a member at CrossFit Morgantown?
I will be celebrating my 8 year CFM anniversary in November.
Why did you join?
So, my friend Mary, talked me into trying CrossFit. Neither one of us had any idea what we were getting ourselves into!! LOL She left after a month, and I am still here 8 years later!
What do you love most about CrossFit Morgantown? / What keeps you coming back each month?
What I love most about CFM, hands down, are the people! They support you, no matter what… during the good times, and the bad. There is always someone there to encourage you do to one more burpee, when what you really want to do is stop. Everyone is positive and genuinely happy to see you succeed. Even on those not so successful days, there is always a coach or a member reminding you to never give up.

What is your current occupation? And/or what are some hobbies, clubs, groups, or activities you participate in?
Although I practiced Physical Therapy for 20 years, my current occupation is a mom to my 3 kids Samantha (22), Ben (20), and Lea (17), and wife of 26 years to my husband Dean. One of my hobbies is running. I also like to do crafts but my friends will say that I start a lot of projects that I don’t finish! LOL. I deliver Meals on Wheels once a week, volunteer at my church, St. Francis DeSales, and I am actively involved with Young Life which is a Christian Youth Group.
Who inspires you?
My family inspires me everyday to be able to laugh at myself and not take life too seriously. Also, that it’s easier to be kind and caring, than it is to be grumpy and negative. “Life is too short to sweat the small stuff.”
How has improved fitness impacted your life?
By improving my fitness level, I know that I have more energy, zero anxiety (which I feel is common with women my age), increased strength, and a positive attitude. My improved fitness level has allowed me to participate in my first 1/2 marathon, climb Croagh Patrick in Ireland, and complete my first “14-er” hike in Breckinridge, CO.
What’s one thing – either fitness related or not – you learned in the last month?
I am learning how to make stained glass. To all you naysayers, I will finish this project!! LOL
What would you say to someone you love to encourage them to try out CFM?
