CFM is run by great people who genuinely love fitness and helping others achieve their fitness goals. Everyone makes you feel welcome from day one and will always push you to do better.

How long have you been a member at Community Fitness of Morgantown?

I have been a member of CFM for approximately 2 years and 4 months.

Why did you join?

I began developing bad habits and mentally was not in a place I wanted to be. I knew it was time to make a change. I joined Community Fitness of Morgantown to begin focusing on my fitness goals and mental health. I was looking for a place that I would be able to learn more about fitness and meet new friends.

What do you love most about Community Fitness of Morgantown? / What keeps you coming back each month?

I have met some awesome individuals at CFM. The staff at CFM is incredible and they work very hard with your best interests in mind. I appreciate Jeff’s motivation and his strive to make you be better in and out of the gym.

“Since starting CFM, I am mentally and physically in the best shape of my life.”

What is your current occupation? And/or what are some hobbies, clubs, groups, or activities you participate in?

I have been a Patrolman First Class with the Granville City Police Department for the past 7 years. I am certified in crash reconstruction, a member of the bike patrol and the evidence control officer. In my spare time I enjoy playing softball, hanging out with my dogs, boating on the lake and hanging out with my friends. I also enjoy visiting different breweries and supporting small businesses.

Who inspires you?

While a lot of people inspire me, my mom and my sister are at the top of the list. My mother has been through so much, (Divorce, broken hip, Cancer, TBI) and chooses to wake up each day and make it the best she can. She conquers each day with a smile on her face and the occasional sassy zinger. My sister is the full-time care giver for my mother. She raised three children, worked full time and started her own business, all while taking care of my mother. She has always been supportive of me in everything that I do. She is my rock.

How has improved fitness impacted your life?

Fitness has helped me to be able to participate in activities that I love doing or have wanted to learn how to do. For example, water skiing, snowboarding, hiking. I find tasks that were difficult before, easier. In my profession, it is important to be in great shape and ready for any task. CFM has prepared me to be well rounded and adapt to any obstacle.

What’s one thing – either fitness related or not – you learned in the last month?

I have recently learned that the nickname of the Assault Bike is “Satan’s Tricycle” and I COULD NOT AGREE MORE. Due to COVID and the restrictions that were placed on the gym, we had to incorporate the Assault Bike into our workouts. I have found myself in a love/hate relationship with the Assault Bike. I have enjoyed learning the proper techniques and how my body reacts as opposed to the rower, which I mainly worked out on prior to COVID. Shockingly, I sometimes find myself choosing the Assault Bike over the rower because CFM has taught me to be well rounded and work on things you may not be great at.

What would you say to someone you love to encourage them to try out CFM?

DO IT! I have tried every CrossFit gym in Morgantown and CFM is by far the best. CFM is run by great people who genuinely love fitness and helping others achieve their fitness goals. Everyone makes you feel welcome from day one and will always push you to do better. Since starting CFM, I am mentally and physically in the best shape of my life.
