How long have you been a member at CrossFit Morgantown?
I joined in February of 2016, so almost 5 years!
Why did you join?
My former coworker, Joe Bartolo, and I would constantly discuss weightlifting while at work. One day he mentioned he joined CFM. As the days went by, he would show me the WODs on the app and it seemed interesting, but I was still hesitant to join. Then one day, he convinced me to come try my first CFM workout (Fran). I quickly learned to never eat Chinese food beforehand…
What do you love most about CrossFit Morgantown? / What keeps you coming back each month?
Foremost, the people are great to be around. I never imagined I’d meet so many cool people through all of this! I also love the constant variety of the workouts. I’ve never once felt comfortable or plateaued with the programming; whereas that has been the case many times in past workout regimens at regular gyms. Everyone in the class is working toward the same goal so there is some camaraderie which makes it more fun than working out alone.

What is your current occupation? And/or what are some hobbies, clubs, groups, or activities you participate in?
I’m currently a pharmacist at Kroger in Clarksburg, WV. I enjoy playing golf, traveling, and hanging out with my family and friends.
Who inspires you?
My girlfriend, Courtney, inspires me to work hard at everything I do. She gives me encouragement and brings out the best version of myself.
How has improved fitness impacted your life?
I believe improved fitness has translated to overall better health for me, both physical and mental. The gym provides me a place to relieve stress. It also gives me a sense of preparedness to do a multitude of tasks at any given moment.
What’s one thing – either fitness related or not – you learned in the last month?
After watching Queens Gambit on Netflix I learned how to play chess — Its fun and challenging.
What would you say to someone you love to encourage them to try out CFM?
Each and every workout can be tailored to your abilities. Every movement can be learned no matter how intimidating it may seem. Come try it out and you’ll be hooked!
