We believe, together, we can make change.
2020 Community Service Initiatives
Using fitness as a catalyst to support our community and help others recognize their full potential through… friendship, love, and loyalty. At CFM, we facilitate one community service project with our members each and every month. Even throughout our time of social distancing, we were able to gather virtually to support our greater community. In 2020 we have hosted an Outerwear Drive for Christian Help, participated in the Polar Plunge for Special Olympics WV, and hosted a Virtual Mask Making Gathering via Zoom for United Way. Here’s what we have coming up:
JUNE
Women united
Women United is a local branch of the United Way of Monongalia and Preston counties that is over 300 women strong and focused on assuring all children are prepared for school and are given the tools to succeed in life. Women United’s fundraising activities are all directed specifically to the Women United educational programming. This month, Sarah Giosi was a “Celebrity Reader” for an initiative to raise funds for a book-by-mail program that delivers one free, high-quality, age-appropriate book per month to children from birth to 5 years of age all throughout Monongalia and Preston counties. You can see Sarah’s video below. Likewise, we invite you to participate as a donor in the cause.
OUR MAY PROJECT
In May we partnered with our talented and compassionate member, Corina Chang. Details of her project are below. It was a huge success, raising more than $1,500 and helping bring smiles to the faces of many. Congratulations Corina! We are so proud of you and happy to have played a small role in your project!

Corina Chang’s #FrontPorchProject Fundraiser
In May we partnered with our talented and compassionate member, Corina Chang. Photographers around the country are taking photos of families from their “front porch,” while maintaining a safe distance. The purpose is to document life during the quarantine. While restrictions are easing up, life is still far from the normal. Corina plans to continue to take photos and capture this exceptionally unique time. As part of the project, she has started a fundraiser for those who want to give back. The fundraiser is for the Mountaineer Food Bank, an organization with the mission to feed West Virginia’s hungry through a network of member feeding programs and engage our state in the fight to end hunger.
If you are interested in having your photos taken, you can connect with Corina here. All photos are FREE—and you get all the digital files. Donations to the food bank are entirely voluntary.
Here is a quick snapshot of ways your involvement with CFM helped our community in 2019.
